Free Educational iPad Apps

Available for a limited time only, these interactive story and educational apps take advantage of the iPad's multi-touch interface and make reading or learning from books fun. They're designed for young children, offering animation, sound effects, coloring activities, touchable text, and pictures that make sounds or move when touched.

Hiku, one of the animated storybook apps, involves a little penguin who sneaks off from a family outing, while in a companion app, kids will find out all the things that Toucan Toucan't can and can't do.

In Play & Learn, preschool kids will enjoy hours of educational fun as they drag and drop functions.

  1. I just came across this blog and was excited to learn that iPad has educational apps! Just last month I requested two iPads for several inclusion autistic students in my classroom. They love everything technology and love interactive lessons. It is very difficult keeping them on task and I was hoping that providing the lessons on the iPad would motivate them. This would not only be great for my autistic kiddos, but for all of my students! I was not sure if there were many educational apps available, but after reading this blog I am very encouraged. I was hoping to include math and reading lessons on the iPad.
