If it Were My Home

If It Were My Home – This is a great site for social studies teachers.  At this site, you can compare your own country to another country, and you can find out what your life would be like if you were born in that other country as it compares the various aspects of two countries.

  1. This is a pretty awesome site, I could see it being very useful in the social studies classroom. Especially useful with World Geography in discussing and comparing the many countries they study.

  3. This will be great for my 6th grade history classes. I plan to use this site to have students compare their life with the regions we are studying. What a great introduction to new regions. Also a wonderful way to make the content real to students.

  4. I was amazed at all the information provided in one click! This is a great site for Social Studies as well as English for essays students write. I'm thinking of a comparison/contrast between the two places chosen.

Very quick way to access reliable information about other places. Spanish class has a cultural lesson in each chapter that would work very nicely with this tool.

just wanted to let you know that I have told lots of people about ifitweremy home. The original intent was to help people visualize a disaster on familiar territory.
Check out the oil spill and it places it right over Bryan Texas (and almost to dallas!)
