My Avatar Editor

My Avatar Editor is a free online site where you can create and edit avatars. Gender, height, size, hair and eye color, along with other physical characteristics can be chosen. Once an avatar is created, it can be exported as a .png file without the background.
By combining this with Comic Life, students could create historical scenes.    Normally, you are only able to drag one picture into a frame in Comic Life, but by saving the Avatar without a background, and using the "command" key while dragging the image onto a background image, a scene like above can be created.

  1. I like this site and I think the students would love to each have their own avatar. I can see myself having an A&m student or reads and counts tutor to help set up an avatar for everyone.

  2. I'll definitly use this with my students. We create Comic Life's all the time, and they'd love to put themselves into each comic.

  3. This will be great for character analysis for "The Diary of Anne Frank"! The students can create an avatar for Anne and Mr.s Frank and then make predictions about how their relationships will develop, especially after their fight in Act I, Scene 3. Great alternative/addition to boring, old letter writing! :) Julie Mishler

  4. I used this last year with my students and they loved it. They all created an avatar that they used in a powerpoint presentation called, "The Places I Would Go." It was a bit like a "flat stanley" project. The students found pictures online of places around the world that they dream of visiting, they place the avatar somewhere on the scene and add a caption bubble. Some students created many avatars so their friends could join them on their journey as well. :) Once they finished, they saved their PP slides as jpegs, and uploaded the jpegs to www.animoto.com to create a movie with their avatar scenes. They had a fun time with this project!

  5. I will be using this in the Art Classroom. I love that they can dress them up, give them unique characteristics to create their own look. It is interesting that you could even place a picture of the classroom and show them working on artwork. I think this will be very fun for our students!
