Skypeclassroom is a free online directory for teachers that will soon be launched by Skype.
Once you sign up with your Skype account and create a profile, you'll be able to search for other teachers and classes by subject and region. You can also share inspiration and tips to help kids learn with Skype.
Right now, you can request an invitation to use the beta version of the directory. If you're a teacher and you would like to be among the first to use Skype in the classroom, provide your email address and they will send you an invitation.
I am concerned about student privacy issues and parent release. I use skype to chat with family and conference with other teachers, but have to text first to see that they have time. In the classroom version, does it happen in real time? I have used a teachers.net forum for several years and get a lot of great ideas from the group and searching older posts. Guess I need to check it out!
