instaGrok is a free search engine site that is similar to Google's Wonder Wheel.  You type in a search term and you will get several subcategories that will then expand with a new web of related terms and topics.

This type of interface, allows you to quickly see important concepts or key facts.

For each search topic, you will have a dialog box that will appear and give you the following information:
  • Key Facts
  • Website links to information
  • Videos
  • Images
  • Concepts
  • Add a Note

In the top right corner of the page, you can change the level of difficulty by moving the sliding button.
The higher the difficulty, the more defined search you will get.

You do not have to sign in to use instaGrok but if you do create a free account, you will have access to their journal feature. The journal keeps your search results and even allows you to "pin" topics you would like to save.

instaGrok also has a quiz feature that ties to your search topic.  The quiz tab is in the upper left corner of the screen.

Classroom Integration Ideas:
  • Students:
    • Great tool to use to refine a research topic
    • Organize information while conducting research
  • Teachers:
    • Use the linked videos for a topic in your lessons
    • Take advantage of the quizzes
